I’m not usually one for designy art-directed rigid/soft body sims, of the minimalist kind. But this one was done quite nicely so here it is, why not.
There’s plenty more of him painting on his youtube channel. This is one I like a lot because of the way he captures the weather using guache and pastels.
Quite impressive how advanced their rigging systems were back them. Already taking into account muscle deformation, skin sliding and real time interactive AR. Sadly, the technology hasn’t become as mainstream as I wish. Even almost 20 years later, muscle systems and skin-sliding effects are complicated and tedious to create. Which only adds to how impressive this is by Weta.
This deformer creates a cool effect that is particularly useful for secondary movement whem objects collide or create some kind of impact.
